SIS25-101 - Overdyed Sweatshirt - Kakishibu Indigo

SIS25-101 - Overdyed Sweatshirt - Kakishibu Indigo

This sweatshirt is built from a tightly knit 14.5oz fabric made using open-end, air-spun yarn that delivers a dry, firm hand with real structure. The yarn is rope-dyed in indigo, then overdyed with kakishibu, a traditional persimmon tannin dye that has been used in Japanese clothing since the Heian period. The result is a deeply layered color that continues to darken and evolve with wear, with natural variation that reflects the character of the dye itself. Samurai carries this same yarn through the ribbing for consistency, and finishes the garment using a 4-needle flat seamer, adjusting the cutting blade so hints of the kakishibu tone appear at the surface. It’s a sweatshirt that feels historically rooted, technically obsessive, and quietly special from every angle.
